Extremists Continue to Target GUSD

I am a north Glendale resident and a parent of two Glendale Unified students.
I have not seen coverage in the Glendale New-Press about the failed Aug. 25 “walkout” organized by the anti-LGBTQ+ extremists who have been targeting our school district and our city.
The Glendale Unified School District sent a message out to parents last week showing how the support for these extremist views has dropped since June of this year. (You can see the Aug. 25 message on GUSD’s Facebook page: facebook.com/100047122544929/posts/pfbid0288gRm12vAoxnukwMcpChW1DkeF1HyZu2tT6RE8M1B4GDyVKmXmvztuxWfyDoJad9l/?mibextid=cr9u03.)
Calling on parents to keep their kids home is a disturbing strategy that only harms the children, and keeping kids at home without a legitimate reason is truancy.
I call these people extremists because they are. It has been documented by journalists that many of them are Proud Boys and participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. Many of them don’t even live in Glendale and/or do not have children in Glendale schools.
