Softball: Mulcahey Fans 11 in Crescenta Valley Win

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity softball team lost to visiting Burroughs High of Burbank 7-5 in a Pacific League game on April 9.
Junior Hannah Wyroski went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs, while junior Alexa Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Senior Perri Derian pitched six innings with four strikeouts and no walks, while junior Carley Mulcahey pitched one inning. Senior Ariel Beltran tallied a base hit, while junior Mila Reddy walked twice and scored a run. Sophomore Reese Fontanilla scored a run, while senior Haley Krohn and junior Megumi Ono each walked once.
The Falcons secured a 6-2 nonleague victory over visiting Providence High of Burbank on April 6.
Carley Mulcahey, who had a double and two RBIs at the plate, pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts.
Johnson went 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run, while Barnes contributed a hit, two RBIs, two walks, a run and a stolen base. Wyroski produced a hit, two runs and a walk, senior Jaiden Sabelis recorded a hit and a run, and freshman Chloe Mulcahey and Reddy each tallied a base hit. Senior Anais Ochoa was credited with an RBI, while Fontanilla scored a run.
Crescenta Valley suffered a 9-3 extra-inning loss to visiting Temple City in a nonleague game on April 4.
Derian, who slugged a solo home run at the plate, pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts, while Chloe Mulcahey pitched one inning of relief. Reddy went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, an RBI and a run, Sabelis finished with a double and an RBI, and Barnes had a hit and a run.
Crescenta Valley (9-10 overall, 4-1 in league) will visit Arcadia for a league game on April 17 at 3:30 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League tournament which begins on April 20.

HOOVER

Hoover High School senior Paola Cano tallied a base hit during a Pacific League game against Muir High on April 9.

The Tornados lost at Muir High of Pasadena 11-1 in a Pacific League game on April 9.
Junior Evelyn Ortiz, who had an RBI, a walk and a stolen base at the plate, pitched a five-inning complete game with one strikeout. Senior Paola Cano tallied a base hit, while freshman Anahit Kazaryan walked once and scored a run. Freshman Hannah Parker walked twice, while junior Natalie Menasaka, junior Kim De Leon and sophomore Samantha Marquez each walked once.
Hoover suffered a 13-3 loss to visiting Westridge School of Pasadena in a nonleague game on April 4. Ortiz, who walked once, scored a run and stole a base at the plate, pitched a five-inning complete game with one strikeout. Sophomore Sophia Hernandez recorded a double and an RBI, while Cano finished with a double and a run. De Leon tallied a walk, an RBI and a run, while Parker and Marquez each walked once and stole a base.
The Tornados (6-8, 0-5) will visit Glendale for a league game on April 17 at 3:45 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League tournament which begins on April 20.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School sophomore Rachel Francis had a double and an RBI during a Pacific League game against Burbank on April 9.

The Nitros lost to visiting Burbank 16-5 in a Pacific League game on April 9. Junior Natalie Minkler, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, pitched a complete game with two strikeouts and no walks.
Sophomore Carla Bedolla went 3-for-3, while sophomore Rachel Francis produced a double, an RBI and a run. Senior Jazmin Combs recorded a hit and a run, freshman Brooke Aldrete had a base hit, and senior Faith Alvarez, sophomore Charmille Licardo and sophomore Sky Smoot each scored a run.
Glendale lost to visiting Oak Park 22-0 in a nonleague game on April 6. Minkler, who had a base hit at the plate, pitched two innings with one strikeout, while Bedolla pitched two innings of relief.
The Nitros suffered a 17-0 loss to visiting Jurupa Hills High of Fontana in a nonleague game on April 6.
Minkler, who went 2-for-2 with a stolen base, pitched two innings, while junior Jade Marquez also pitched two innings. Alvarez tallied a base hit, while Licardo stole a base.
Glendale will host Hoover High for a league game on April 17 at 3:45 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League tournament which begins on April 20.
