Boys’ Tennis: Doubles Play Lifts Crescenta Valley

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ tennis team defeated host Pasadena 12-6 in a Pacific League match on April 9.
The No. 3 doubles team of Kevin Cho and Matthew Park won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-1 before alternating with Justin Kim and Daniel Lee, who added a 6-0 victory to complete the sweep. The No. 1 tandem of Dylan Kim and Easan Hamkins swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3, while the No. 2 duo of Ethan Kim and Joshua Kook won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
No. 1 singles player Aiden Kim posted a 6-4 victory before alternating with Caleb Kook, who added a 6-1 victory. No. 2 Joseph Choi (6-0) and No. 3 Sean Yusin (6-1) each won a set.
The Falcons secured an 11-7 league victory at Burbank on April 5.
The No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Kim and Hamkins swept with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-4. The No. 3 duo of Ethan Kim and and Daniel Lee swept with scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 7-5. The No. 2 tandem of Joshua Kook and Choi won a pair of sets with scores of 7-6 (7-4) and 6-2. Meanwhile in singles play, No. 1 Jaidyn Finley swept with scores of 6-2, 6-2 and 6-3.
Crescenta Valley (10-5 overall, 7-2 in league) will visit Burbank for a league match on April 16 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Arcadia for its regular-season finale on April 18.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia 16-2 in a Pacific League match on April 9 as No. 1 Alec Avedisian won a pair of sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
Hoover (2-8 in league) will host Pasadena for a league match on April 16 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Glendale for its regular-season finale on April 18.

GLENDALE
The Nitros were shut out at Burroughs High in Burbank 18-0 in a Pacific League game on April 9.
Glendale (0-10, 0-9) will host Arcadia for a league match on April 16 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Hoover High in Glendale for its regular-season finale on April 18.
