Local High School Baseball Teams in Action

The Hoover High School varsity baseball team lost a Pacific League game at Muir High in Pasadena, 4-1, on Tuesday.
Senior Tristan Ulloa doubled and scored a run while sophomore Julian Corral doubled and stole third base for the Tornados. Senior Ethan Tobey, junior Brandon Piehr, junior Jose Mendez and junior Fernando Gallegos each recorded a base hit.
Hoover previously dropped a nonleague game at Duarte, 10-3, last Friday. The Tornados (3-11-1 overall, 1-8 in league) are scheduled to host Burroughs High of Burbank in a league game on Tuesday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Danny Villela and the Nitros moved their record to 7-8 overall after losing at Pasadena.

The Nitros returned to action after an 11-day hiatus and lost a Pacific League game at Pasadena, 11-1, on Tuesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (7-8 overall, 2-7 in league) is scheduled to host Crescenta Valley in a league game on Tuesday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons collected an 8-2 nonleague victory at Vista Murrieta High of Murrieta last Friday behind a dominant pitching performance by junior Connor Campbell. He allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts across six innings.
Senior Jameson Ferraro, who collected a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, pitched a perfect seventh inning to slam the door on Vista Murrieta. Junior Tyler Garland produced a pair of base hits, an RBI and a run scored, senior Kris McCollum recorded a base hit, a run scored and a pair of walks, and sophomore Jacob Deno tallied an RBI and a run scored. Seniors Zack Petersen and Chris Barrena each posted a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, junior Everett Pam registered a pair of RBIs and senior Luke Steele walked once and scored a run.
CVHS (14-8 overall, 7-2 in league) previously dropped a nonleague game to visiting La Cañada, 6-4, last Saturday. Steele tallied a triple with a pair of RBIs, Deno collected a pair of base hits and a run scored, and McCollum posted a base hit and an RBI. Garland had an RBI while Petersen and senior Andrew Manning each scored once. Junior Nico Terenzi was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts over 4.1 innings. Junior Ryan Ivanyi, who produced a base hit and a run scored at the plate, pitched a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout.
The Falcons, tied for second in the league standings with Burroughs and Burbank high schools, will visit Glendale in a league game on Tuesday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m.
