Rotary Club Donates to Groups Supporting At-Risk Youth

First published in the Nov. 26 print issue of the Glendale News-Press.

The Rotary Club of Glendale recently distributed $50,000 to 12 different Glendale-area community organizations with programs for at-risk youth during a luncheon at the Glendale Police Department community room.
In attendance were members from the Glendale City Council and Glendale Police and Fire Department chiefs, among other city dignitaries.
The funding for the beneficiaries has been raised through the club’s annual Cars for Cops and Kids Car Show, which has seen significant growth over the past five years and which the club attributes to the support of donors and the Glendale community. Since its inception, the event has raised about $210,000, with all proceeds going to at-risk youth causes.

This year’s event was chaired by Edwin Voskanian and police Lt. Patrick Magtoto. The donors who contributed to the success of Cars for Cop and Kids Car Show include Pacific BMW, Glendale Adventist Health, Sam and Grace Carvajal, as well as contributions from Karlo Nazarian of the Dad’s Club of Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School, and Narbeh Zohrabi of 3B Auto Brokers.
Next year’s Cars for Cops and Kids Car Show is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, at Verdugo Park.
