Nitros, Falcons, Tornados in Nonleague Action

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost a nonleague game at Royal High in Simi Valley, 85-45, on Monday.
Senior Dior Pierre led with 11 points while junior Christian Pierre racked up 10 points. Senior Nico Zadorian drained three 3-pointers while sophomore Josh Ballard posted eight points. Junior Haig Jivalagian finished with four points while junior Mika Petrosian made a 3-pointer.
Glendale won its second game in as many days after defeating visiting Temple City, 80-54, in a nonleague game last Friday, as Dior Pierre amassed 20 points. Petrosian poured in 13 points while Nico Zadorian registered 10 points. Jivalagian finished with nine points, Christian Pierre recorded eight points, and junior David Davtian produced six points. Senior Tino Zadorian and Ballard each scored five points, while senior Riley Lacson added two points.
The Nitros previously picked up their first win of the season by defeating host Cleveland High in Reseda, 78-69.
Glendale will visit Pilibos High in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m., before opening Pacific League action at Burroughs High in Burbank on Friday, Dec. 9.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons defeated JW North High of Riverside, 55-50, in their Cardinal Tip-Off Classic finale at Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary in Montebello last Saturday.
Senior Armen Yetenekian registered eight points, six rebounds and three assists, while senior Alex Altounian finished with nine points and six boards. Seniors Sebastian Tahmasian and Mikail Grigoryan each scored nine points, while junior Logan Freemon recorded six points and four rebounds.
Crescenta Valley lost a tournament game against Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge, 69-51, last Friday. Grigoryan led the team with 15 points and four rebounds, while junior Vatche Hairapetian had eight points and Altounian posted seven boards.
The Falcons previously lost a tournament game against Simi Valley, 74-65.
CVHS (2-2 overall) will compete in a tournament next week before opening Pacific League action against visiting Burbank on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover’s James Akerman racked up 14 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals to help the Tornados defeat Workman High, 67-54, in a nonleague game.

The Tornados lost their San Gabriel Thanksgiving Feast Tournament opener against Flintridge Prep of La Cañada Flintridge, 60-44, on Monday.
Zack Van Patten amassed 23 points, six assists and three rebounds, while James Akerman drained three 3-pointers with three rebounds. Justin Herrera registered eight points, one assist and one rebound, while Jenghiz Van Patten racked up 10 rebounds and two points. Hakop Demirjian had four boards while Kyle Arakelian finished with two points and one rebound.
Hoover previously defeated visiting Workman High of the City of Industry, 67-54, in a nonleague game. Jenghiz Van Patten posted a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists, Akerman racked up 14 points, seven assists, four rebounds and four steals, and Zack Van Patten registered 11 points, six assists and one steal. Herrera scored 12 points with four rebounds and one steal, Demirjian tallied nine points, three assists and two rebounds, and Arakelian finished with eight points, two rebounds and one block.
The Tornados (1-2 overall) will host Rosemead in a nonleague game on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m.
