Fresh off their CIF Southern Section Division VI championship, the Nitros extended their impressive winning streak to 29 straight victories. Glendale has maintained a flawless record and have not dropped a set since Oct. 4.
Junior Aleina Manaois racked up 18 kills, four digs and two aces, junior Emerson Whiting finished with 29 assists, six digs and one block, and freshman Eileen Herrera tallied 14 digs and six kills. Senior Arianna Vargas recorded seven digs and three aces, junior Breanna Cuellar chipped in five blocks, and junior Mika Valiente had three kills and two blocks.
The No. 1-seeded Nitros hosted No. 8 Mayfair High of Lakewood in a second-round matchup on Nov. 9; the match ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, Glendale (36-6 overall) would advance to the regional semifinals and meet either No. 5 Mission Hills High of San Marcos (24-19) or Cleveland High of Reseda (19-23-1) on Nov. 11.
