Hoover Can’t Keep Up With Bernstein

The Hoover High School varsity football team suffered a 40-29 nonleague loss to visiting Bernstein High of Hollywood in a nonleague game on Sept. 29.
Junior Ryan O led the rushing game with an impressive 237 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries, while junior Javon Lymon contributed 42 yards on the ground with a touchdown on four carries.
Senior quarterback Ethan Davis completed seven passes for 104 yards and rushed for 62 yards on five carries. Sophomore quarterback Aj Francisco also completed a 9-yard pass.
In the receiving department, junior Davion Holloway secured two receptions for 27 yards and scored a two-point attempt. Senior Joseph Dizon made a 25-yard catch, while junior Javon Lymon added two receptions for 21 yards. Seniors Aram Darbinyan and Isaac Perez made one catch each for 17 and 16 yards, respectively, while senior Daniel Baneham added with a 9-yard catch.
The Tornados (1-4 overall) hosted Crescenta Valley High on Sept. 22; the nonleague game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. Hoover will host Nogales High of La Puente in a nonleague game on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. before visiting Temple City on Oct. 6.
