CV Scores League Win Over Glendale

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team secured a decisive 16-2 Pacific League victory at Glendale on Sept. 12.
In singles play, No. 1 Anais Khachatryan won a set with a score of 6-0 before alternating with Anna Poghosyan, who added a 6-3 victory. No. 2 Natalie Mirbegian displayed a dominant performance, sweeping her matches with scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0. No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski also secured a sweep with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1.
On the doubles court, the No. 1 team of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1. The No. 2 pairing of Nicolette Aghabegian and Gabriella Rouveyrol replicated this success with a 6-0, 6-1, 6-1 sweep. The No. 3 tandem of Ramya Kuramasuriar and Allison Bashar won two sets by scores of 6-1.
The Falcons shut out host Muir High of Pasadena 18-0 in a league match on Sept. 7.
In singles action, No. 1 Khachatryan swept her matches with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0. No. 2 Poghosyan matched the performance with sweeps of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0. No. 3 Chmielewski continued the trend, securing a trio of 6-0 wins.
On the doubles court, the No. 1 team of Abadzheva and Manuelian won a set with a score of 6-0 before alternating with Faith Woo and Linnea Russell, who added a pair of 6-0 wins. The No. 2 tandem of Aghabegian and Rouveyrol won a set with a score of 6-0. After Aghabegian alternated with Bashar, the new duo also secured a pair of 6-0 wins. Lastly, the No. 3 pairing of Kuramasuriar and Hailee Yoon earned a sweep with three consecutive 6-0 wins.
CVHS previously lost a nonleague match at La Cañada 10-8.
In doubles play, the No. 2 team of Aghabegian and Rouveyrol secured a sweep with scores of 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 and 7-5. The No. 1 pairing of Abadzheva and Manuelian earned two set wins with scores of 6-1 and 6-3. The No. 3 tandem of Yoon and Kuramasuriar won a set with a score of 6-3. In singles action, No. 1 Khachatryan and No. 3 Chmielewski each won a set with a 6-2 score.
Crescenta Valley will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league match on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Sept. 21.


GLENDALE
The Nitros lost to visiting Crescenta Valley 16-2 in a Pacific League match on Sept. 12.
No. 3 singles Lori Torosyan won a set, 7-6 (8-6), while the No. 1 doubles team of Marie Kaloghlian and Garine Melkonian also won a set, 7-6 (7-4).
Glendale will visit Burbank for a league match on Sept. 19 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Sept. 21.


HOOVER
The Tornados defeated host Burroughs High in Burbank 10-8 in a Pacific League match on Sept. 12.
In singles play, No. 2 Alexandra Nemirovskaya swept her matches with scores of 6-0, 6-2 and 6-4, while No. 3 Ani Weimar won a set, 6-2.
On the doubles court, the No. 1 team of Evenna Amirian and Kathrine Nalchajyan secured a sweep with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-4. The No. 2 pairing of Malvina Karapetyan and Savannah Sanchez won two sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. The No. 3 tandem of Kirsten Canon and Elise Jahng also contributed a pair of wins with scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
Hoover previously lost to visiting Burbank 11-7 in a league match on Sept. 7.
In doubles action, the No. 2 team of Karapetyan and Sanchez swept their matches with scores of 6-4, 6-4 and 6-3. The No. 1 pairing of Amirian and Nalchajyan secured two wins with scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Additionally, the No. 3 doubles tandem of Canon and Jahng, No. 1 singles Jackyln Tolomyan and No. 2 singles Nemirovskaya, each won a set via forfeit.
The Tornados will host Muir High of Pasadena for a league match on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before visiting Pasadena on Sept. 21.
