GWP Develops New Energy Plan

Glendale Water & Power is developing its 2024 Integrated Resource Plan, which will analyze Glendale’s future energy needs and determine the most suitable resources to fulfill those needs.
The plan will consider factors such as reliability, cost, environmental responsibility and risk. It will also explore the future of Glendale’s energy system and its details, such as where Glendale gets its power, what its mix of renewable energy will be and how much that energy mix will cost.
GWP invites community members to get involved in shaping this plan. Those interested can visit GlendaleCA.gov/2024IRP for information about the IRP process, upcoming townhall meetings and participating in the Stakeholder Technical Advisory Group.
Selected by GWP’s IRP consultants, Ascend Analytics and Strategen Consulting, members of STAG will represent a diverse set of Glendale residential and business customers and will play a critical role in helping GWP develop community-informed strategies to meet Glendale’s energy needs and clean energy mandates. The deadline to apply to be a part of STAG is July 4. Residents may also visit the website to sign up to receive IRP updates.
The first IRP town hall meeting will take place on Thursday, June 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Pacific Community Center, located at 501 S. Pacific Ave.
The town hall meetings aim to educate the community about the IRP process and solicit input on the priorities that customers would like to see reflected in the IRP. There will be a total of four town hall meetings between June and October, and residents are encouraged to attend each meeting, since each will focus on different IRP topics.
