School board Vice President Jennifer Freemon on Tuesday swears in Glendale High School senior Melinda Khechumyan as the student board member for the school year. Khechumyan, who has been an active Associated Student Body leader since her freshman year, said she plans to spend her year advocating for continuing improvements to mental health and wellness offerings for students, especially contactless options. She added she would like to bolster support for students with disabilities and students living in poverty. “I want to advocate for students who cannot advocate for themselves, and that’s why I ran for this position,” Khechumyan said as she was introduced at Tuesday’s meeting.
