Donald “Don” T. McPoland of Glendale, California, formerly of Epworth, Iowa, took his last and final journey on February 23, 2024, leaving his earthly dwelling to his heavenly home. He was born April 14, 1935, in Zwingle, Iowa, to William “Bill” and Mary (McCabe) McPoland. He lived the majority of his school years in Epworth, graduating in 1953 from Epworth High School. He moved shortly after graduating to Washington, D.C., working for the FBI. In 1956, he moved to Los Angeles, California, pursuing a career with the Los Angeles Power and Light Company, from which he retired. Per his wishes, there will be a private family burial at a later date.
He loved to travel, and has been to all 50 states and many countries. While traveling, he loved to visit with and learn about the culture of the people, encountered many wonders of nature, and discovered the history of the location.
Survivors include his sister Nancy Then of Dyersville, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
Those who welcomed him at his final destination in heaven were his parents, brothers and sister-in-law’s Joe (Janann) McPoland, Jack (Betty) McPoland, brother-in-law Joe Then, nephew Pat McPoland, and other extended family.
