Nitros Falter in Nonleague Tilt, Falcons Drop League Opener

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ water polo team lost to visiting California High of Whittier 18-9 in a nonleague game on Dec. 14. Junior Brina Brati recorded six goals, while junior Leah Gaddes finished with three goals.
The Nitros (3-4 overall) will visit Saint Joseph High in Lakewood for a nonleague game on Jan. 3 before resuming league play against Crescenta Valley on Jan. 4.


CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons narrowly lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena 5-4 in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 20.
Miranda Graham racked up 19 saves, while Michelle Khachatryan, Ani Thomassian, Avalon Burzynski and Emily Wong each scored one goal.
Crescenta Valley (4-2 overall, 0-1 in league) will visit Glendale for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Jan. 9.


HOOVER
The Tornados have been away from the pool since losing a nonleague game at Walnut on Dec. 11. Hoover (1-1 overall) will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a Pacific League game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Arcadia on Jan. 9.
