Crescenta Valley Tops Burroughs in League Showdown

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team posted a 68-38 Pacific League victory at Burroughs High in Burbank on Dec. 15 as senior Kylie Ray amassed 30 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Junior Keira Calaguas racked up 17 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists, junior Darby Stayton registered 12 rebounds, eight points, two steals and one assist, and freshman Yashvi Ahir tallied eight points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Freshman Kelin Shajanian finished with five assists, three points, two rebounds and one steal, sophomore Amelia Parmentier collected two rebounds, and freshmen Ava Gharib and Lylah Dunlavey each had one rebound.
The Falcons lost at Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City 65-56 in a nonleague game on Dec. 19 as Ray racked up 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Calaguas contributed 13 points, five steals and four rebounds, while Parmentier finished with 12 points and one rebound. Freshman Anik Nortikyan tallied eight rebounds, four points, one steal and one assist, while Dunlavey produced one point, one steal and one rebound. Ahir contributed two assists, one steal and one rebound, Stayton had three rebounds and one steal, and Shajanian scored two points.
Crescenta Valley (7-4 overall, 4-0 in league) will compete in the La Cañada New Years Ball Tournament next week, starting with a matchup against Granada Hills Charter on Dec. 26 at 5:30 p.m., before resuming league play at Glendale on Jan. 4.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Pateel Krikorian finished with five rebounds and three points to help the Nitros beat Arcadia in a Pacific League matchup last week.

The Nitros won their third consecutive game by beating visiting Arcadia 51-28 in a Pacific League matchup on Dec. 15.
Senior captain Sella Koshkerian racked up 25 points, five rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist, while junior Christina Koshkerian registered 12 points, five steals, five rebounds and three assists. Senior captain Carmen Avedian chipped in eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while junior Natalia Andriassian tallied six rebounds, four points, one steal and one assist. Junior Pateel Krikorian finished with five rebounds, three points and one assist, while senior Michelle Mirzakhanian contributed five rebounds and one point. Junior Ani Sargsyan collected eight rebounds and one assist, while freshman Leah Davidian recorded six rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Junior Aleek Khanamerian was credited with two assists, one steal and one assist, while senior Kalin Zadoori had two steals and one rebound.
Glendale (9-3, 3-1) will host Crescenta Valley High for a league game on Jan. 4 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Jan. 9.


HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Muir High of Pasadena 48-22 in a Pacific League game on Dec. 15. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (1-8, 0-4) will travel to Burbank for a league game on Jan. 4 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Arcadia on Jan. 9.
