Tornados Edge Burbank; Falcons Blank Nitros

The Hoover High School varsity girls’ soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak by edging host Burbank, 2-1, in a Pacific League game last Thursday.
Junior captain Lillian Yousefian scored the opening goal in the 44th minute while junior Fiona Gilbert added a crucial insurance goal in the 51st minute to help secure a victory.
The Tornados (5-3 overall, 2-2 in league) will resume league action by hosting Arcadia on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:30 p.m.

  • Glendale High School junior Mia Alcibar and the Nitros moved to 2-7 overall after losing a Pacific League game at Crescenta Valley High last week.
  • Crescenta Valley High School senior Stephanie Schaupp and the Falcons remained undefeated in Pacific League play after defeating Glendale last week, 4-0.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons blanked visiting Glendale, 4-0, in a Pacific League game last Thursday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
CVHS (5-5-1 overall, 3-0-1 in league) will resume league play by hosting Burroughs High of Burbank on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:15 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros lost a Pacific League game at Crescenta Valley High, 4-0, last Thursday.
Glendale (2-7 overall, 0-4 in league) will look to snap its five-game losing streak when it resumes league play against visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 3:30 p.m.
