Salem Lutheran Church and School hosted a Feed My Starving Children MobilePack event over two days.
The initiative exceeded the church’s goal of preparing 100,000 meals for global child hunger relief, and raised $30,000 in donations to fund the project. The final tally was 101,088 MannaPack rice meals and about $45,000 raised.
MannaPacks, a scientifically formulated, culturally adaptable and nutritionally rich food solution, will be able to sustain 275 children for a year, according to the church.
The event was made possible thanks to more than 550 volunteers from Salem Church and School, as well as from Glendale and beyond.
The event saw a diverse group of volunteers, including neighboring church members from St. Mark’s Episcopal, Incarnation Catholic and Glendale Korean Adventist, alongside students from Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, St. Francis and Mayfield Senior. Corporate groups from Walt Disney and Ernst & Young, and community organizations like Assisteens, Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club, and the Glendale Police Department, also came out to participate.
Marking its inaugural Feed My Starving Children MobilePack, Salem embraced its new vision: “A world where all of God’s creation is fed in body and spirit.”
Due to the event’s success, plans are already underway to host another packing event next year, aiming to support even more children in need across the globe.
