Tim Ernst is sworn in as chief of the Glendale Fire Department by City Manager Roubik Golanian during a ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 29. Ernst, who lives in La Crescenta, succeeds Silvio Lanzas as chief after a long career with the Los Angeles Fire Department and many contributions to the California fire service.
