Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Hoover high schools sent their varsity boys’ and girls’ track and field teams to compete in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia High School last Thursday.
The Falcons boys and girls each posted third-place finishes with 109 and 101 total points, respectively. The Glendale girls’ team finished sixth with 13 points, while the Glendale boys and both Hoover teams did not score.
CRESCENTA VALLEY
In the boys’ track events, the 4×400 meter relay team of Jaeger Wyss, Diego Pravikoff, Rowan FitzGerald and Max Ruiz won with a 3:33.84 time. FitzGerald won the 800 meters with a 1:57.78 time, while Ruiz (1:58.46) and Josh Santiago (2:11.21) finished second and ninth, respectively. Parker Simmons (9:22.54) finished second in the 3,200 meters, Harrison Connors (9:39.43) took third, Jamie Cartnal (10:02.11) placed 10th, Bryce Bitetti (10:09.18) claimed 12th, and Edmond Simonian (10:28.17), Reed Sinclair (10:48.39), Emmett Bringas (11:59.24) and Eric Peterson (12:08.16) finished 14th, 15th, 23rd and 25th, respectively. FitzGerald posted a second-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay with a 4:19.54 time, while Ruben Perez (4:33.64), Bitetti (4:35.45), Cartnal (4:37.80), Simonian (4:41.93) and Luke Cheney placed fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth and 10th, respectively. Pravikoff (52.56) and Wyss (53.13) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 400. Ian Rodriguez placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a 23.35 time while also collecting a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a 11.2 time.
In the boys’ field events, Eric Mecoyan (115-08) and Tate Harper (87-03) finished fourth and ninth, respectively, in the discus throw. Mike Balian (37-05.00) and Jordan Towns (37-04.00) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put. Lachlan Blunt tallied a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a 5-06.00 mark. Calix Jamerson took sixth in the long jump with a 19-01.50 mark.
In the girls’ track events, CV’s 4×100 meter relay team of Rachel Arias, Keira Calaguas, Rachel Park and Sofia Lopez placed second with a 50.03 time, while the 4×400 meter really team of Arias, Teleya Blunt, Annabelle Tanner and Rebecca Doherty placed second with a 4:18.74 time. Arias won the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.85 time, while Anita Ovayan (20.61) placed ninth. Reese Sion won the 3,200-meter run with an 11:40.42 time, Ava Martin (11:54.06) placed third, Emilia Greenway (12:37.76) claimed sixth, Emma Haworth (12:42.47) collected seventh place, Taili Sherwood-Kong (13:04.82) took 11th. Meanwhile, Kate Saeva (13:04.85) placed 12th, Emily Kim (13:13.39) took 13th, Julia Linney (13:26.96) was 14th, Eliana Chong (13:30.83) was 15th, and Ellie Scoggins (15:06.09), Allie Leucht (16:06.35), Rylan Brodie (16:07.57) and Sophia Kim (16:22.91) finished 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
Blunt posted a second-place finish in the girls’ 400 with a 59.04 time. Sion placed second in the 1,600 with a 5:16.83 time, Martin (5:22.86) posted a fourth-place finish, Greenway (5:43.42) claimed sixth, Haworth (5:44.80) tallied seventh, and Stephanie Schaupp (5:51.39), Sherwood-Kong (5:54.11) and Saeva (5:56.89) finished ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively. Arias took second in the 300-meter hurdles with a 45.33 time and would have set a new Pacific League record if it hadn’t been for Arcadia’s Shriya Velichala posting a record-breaking 44.84 time. Blunt finished second in the 200 with a 26.74 time, while Calaguas (28.51) placed eighth. Tanner (2:22.12) and Doherty (2:24.50) claimed third and fourth, respectively, while Schaupp (2:36.49) placed ninth. Calaguas (13.6) took sixth in the 100.
In the girls’ field events, Calaguas placed third in the girls’ long jump with a J15-03.00 mark, while Valerie Smith posted 12th in the girls’ discus throw with a 60-01 mark.
GLENDALE
In the girls’ track events, the 4×100 meter relay team of Jamie Bowman, Lilian Mirzakanian, Jeziree Cruz and Jane Bassil placed fifth with a 53.91 time. Lilit Arakelyan placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run with a 5:43.55 time. Bassil (1:02.98) and Mirzakanian (1:13.28) placed sixth and ninth, respectively, in the 400. Bowman finished seventh in the 100-meter dash with a 13.9 time. Arakelyan (2:35.79) took eighth in the 800. Bassil (28.87) claimed ninth in the 200. Arakelyan posted an eighth-place finish in the 3,200 with a 12:46.94 time.
In the field events, Erica Valdellon finished 14th in the long with a 12-00.00 mark.
In the boys’ field events, Justo Vincent claimed 14th in the discus throw (63-07) and the shot put (21-05.00)
HOOVER
Emil Minasian took 13th in the boys’ long jump with a 14-07.00 mark, while Lailaq Noche placed 17th with a 9-00.25 mark in the girls’ long jump.
