Swimming: Crescenta Valley Claims Boys’ League Crown

The Crescenta Valley, Glendale and Hoover high school varsity swimming and diving teams recently competed in the Pacific League finals at Glendale High School on April 25.
The Falcons boys’ squad won the league title with 555 team points, while the girls’ team claimed second with 441 points. The Nitros girls’ squad finished fourth with 180 points, while the boys’ team was seventh with 113 points. The Tornados girls’ and boys’ teams each finished eighth with 91 and 76 points, respectively.

CRESCENTA VALLEY
Alex Movsesyan won the boys’ 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.95 seconds. Deven Shah finished third with 22.97, Aedric Hollins was fifth with 23.06 and Jordan Choi placed seventh with 23.59.
Andrew Oh won the 100 free, clocking in at 49.02, while Movsesyan took second with 50.25. Hollins finished sixth with a time of 51.23, while Aaron Choi claimed eighth with 51.34.
Dylan Wee dominated the 100 breaststroke, finishing first with a time of 58.59. Oh secured fourth with 1:00.15, followed by Andre Lewis in fifth with 1:00.45, and Daniel Kahdian in seventh with 1:05.16.
In the 200 individual medley, Wee secured first with a time of 1:57.82, followed by Ian Rho in second with 1:59.40. Lewis finished fifth with 2:01.36, and Justin Jeong claimed eighth with 2:09.92.
The 400 free relay team of Rho, Movsesyan, Oh and Wee won with a time of 3:17.25. The 200 medley relay team of Evan Yi, Oh, Wee and Hollins placed second with a time of 1:38.88. Similarly, the 200 free relay team of Rho, Shah, Hollins and Movsesyan finished second with a time of 1:20.58.
In the 200 free, Towa Murdock finished second with a time of 1:47.16, followed by Marin Jeong in seventh with 1:54.55. Kahdian finished ninth with 1:56.83, while Daron Alexanians was 11th with 2:00.0.
Murdock also secured second in the 500 free with a time of 4:54.81, followed by Rho in third with 4:57.33. Shah finished sixth with 5:14.78, while Marin Jeong claimed ninth with 5:29.21.
Yi finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.80, followed by Justin Jeong in sixth with 58.38. Justin Kim finished eighth with 1:02.15, while Jordan Choi claimed ninth with 58.00.
In the 100 backstroke, Yi secured third with a time of 57.10, followed by Aaron Choi in fifth with 58.63. Chris Hwang finished seventh with 1:02.63, while Justin Kim claimed eighth with 1:02.79.
For the girls’ team, Kimberly Yao won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.53. Alice Kim placed ninth with 1:19.25, Angelina Vesselinov finished 10th with 1:24.26 and Shae Addiego was 14th with 1:27.57.
Yao secured second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.00. Gabija Pakuckas finished sixth with 2:29.58, while Alexandra Lawrence claimed 10th with 2:44.49.
The 200 medley relay team of Sarina Lin, Mackenzie Tien, Ani Thomassian and Yao secured second with a time of 2:04.20. Similarly, the 200 free relay team of Chelsea Hong, Camila Purizaca, Lin and Thomassian finished third with a time of 1:49.86. The 400 free relay team of Catherine Moore, Sophia Lim, Pakuckas and Yao finished third with a time of 4:01.22.
In the 100 butterfly, Tien finished third with a time of 1:07.81, followed by Pakuckas in fourth with 1:08.27. Thomassian was fifth with 1:08.86, while Alice Kim placed seventh with 1:10.95.
Moore secured third in the 500 free with a time of 5:44.75, followed by Miranda Graham in fourth with 6:00.72. Emily Wong claimed fifth with 6:08.81, while Kimberly Backes was eighth with 6:25.52.
Lin finished fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.9, while Lim secured seventh with 1:12.06. In the 100 free, Purizaca finished fourth with a time of 1:00.49, while Lim secured seventh with 1:01.58. Michelle Khachatryan finished 10th with 1:03.54, while Vesselinov claimed 12th with 1:05.16.
Moore finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 2:07.39, followed by Graham in fifth with 2:13.10. Tien was eighth with 2:20.70, while Backes claimed 11th with 2:20.97. In the 50 free, Purizaca finished fifth with a time of 27.18, followed by Thomassian in seventh with 27.38. Lin finished 10th with 28.27, while Wong was 13th with 28.59.

GLENDALE
In the girls’ 100 backstroke, Inessa Khajehgian claimed third with a time of 1:06.42, while Sydney Koo finished 13th with 1:16.13.
The 200 medley relay team of Jasper Starr, Christina Agulian, Leora Freeman and Khajehgian secured third with a time of 2:04.22. Similarly, the 200 free relay team of Kenzie Durry, Freeman, Starr and Khajehgian finished fourth with a time of 1:55.94. The 400 free relay team of Armine Zelveyan, Leah Gaddes, Asdghik Avedian and Durry secured sixth with a time of 4:29.83.
In the 100 free, Starr finished fifth with a time of 1:00.83. Khajehgian placed ninth with 1:02.67, while Freeman was 13th with 1:05.42. Starr also secured eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.35, while Emily Gevorgyan finished 15th with 1:28.82.
Freeman finished ninth in the 50 free with a time of 27.97, followed by Durry in 14th with 28.62. In the 100 butterfly, Agulian finished 12th with a time of 1:14.24, followed by Gaddes in 13th with 1:18.62.
Agulian claimed 12th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:45.57. Gaddes finished 13th in the 200 free with a time of 2:24.38, followed by Brina Brati in 15th with 2:25.51.
The boys’ 200 free relay team of Jordan Rosner, Zhan Davtyan, Aidan Fieda and Narek Tonoian placed fourth with a time of 1:42.01. Similarly, the 400 free relay team of Rosner, Davtyan, Fieda and Tonoian finished fifth with a time of 3:48.48. In the 200 medley relay, Nshan Demirtshyan, Vardges Hakobyan, Karlen Avetisyan and Jasper Mejia secured seventh with a time of 2:08.05.
Fieda finished 10th in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.61, while in the 100 free, he claimed 12th with 54.37 seconds. Tonoian finished 12th in the 500 free with a time of 5:36.11.
In the 100 backstroke, Demirtshyan finished 13th with 1:13.76, followed closely by Arsen Martirosyan in 14th with 1:14.28. Davtyan secured 15th in the 50 free with a time of 24.81, while Hakobyan finished 15th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:19.44. Jarvis Sagala claimed 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:43.58, followed by Mejia in 16th with 2:54.81.

HOOVER
The girls’ 200 free relay team of Jaelynn Romano, Katalina Martin, Sloan Gates and Candela Roman Capdevila placed sixth with a time of 2:01.62. Similarly, the 400 free relay team of Kuvira Kapoor, Romano, Gates and Roman Capdevila captured seventh with a time of 4:32.17. In the 200 medley relay, Jasmine Heggy, Sofia Mamikonyan, Martin and Romano earned eighth with a time of 2:42.40.
Roman Capdevila finished 10th in the 200 free with 2:19.29, and in the 500 free, she also claimed 10th with a time of 6:24.31. Romano finished 14th in the 500 free with 7:04.69, followed by Kapoor in 15 with 7:23.71.
The boys’ 400 free relay team of David Kirakosyan, David Tarakhchyan, Haik Aghadjanian and Narek Harutyunyan placed sixth with a time of 3:49.46. In the 200 medley relay, Tigran Mkrtumyan, Gore Sargsyan, Edgar Bahamian and Rafael Davtyan clinched eighth with a time of 2:09.47.
Kirakosyan finished 11th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.14, while Narek Harutyunyan secured 13th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.69. Aghadjanian claimed 13th in the 500 free with 5:59.07. In the 200 IM, Narek Harutyunyan finished 11th with 2:19.18, followed by Mkrtumyan in 12th with 2:32.02. Aghadjanian finished 13th in the 200 free with a time of 2:10.57, while Davit Harutyunyan secured 15th with a time of 2:12.84.
