Boys’ Tennis: Doubles Sweep Lifts Crescenta Valley in CIF Opener

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ tennis team secured a 13-5 victory at Geffen Academy in Los Angeles in its CIF Southern Section Division III opener on May 1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Kim and Easan Hamkins swept with scores of 6-2, 6-2 and 7-5. The No. 2 tandem of Daniel Lee and Hochan Lee swept with scores of 6-3, 7-5 and 7-5. The No. 3 duo of Joseph Choi and Joshua Kook swept with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-3
In singles play, No. 1 Aiden Kim won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-4, while No. 2 Stephen Jung (6-3) and No. 3 Ethan Kim (6-0) each won a set.
The Falcons visited Dana Hills High in Dana Point on May 3; the CIF second-round match ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. If victorious, CVHS (12-7 overall) would advance to the quarterfinals against Trabuco Hills High of Mission Viejo (7-9) or Crean Lutheran High of Irvine (16-5) on May 6.
