Boys’ Tennis: Falcons Stumble in League Matchup Against Burroughs

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity boys’ tennis team narrowly lost at Burroughs High in Burbank 10-8 in a Pacific League match on March 5.
The No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Kim and Easan Hamkins swept with scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2. The No. 3 tandem of Joseph Choi and Joshua Kook won a pair of sets with scores of 6-2 and 7-6 (7-5). Choi alternated with Jaidyn Finley, and the new pairing added a 7-6 (8-6) victory to complete the sweep. The No. 2 duo of Daniel Lee and Hochan Lee won a pair of sets with identical 7-5 scores.
The Falcons secured a 12-6 league victory at Pasadena on Feb. 29.
The No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Kim and Hamkins swept with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2. The No. 2 tandem of Hochan Lee and Daniel Lee won a pair of sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. Justin Kim and Caleb Kook alternated with the duo for the final set and secured a 6-2 victory to complete the sweep. The No. 3 pairing of Joshua Kook and Choi won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-4. Joshua Kook alternated with Stephen Jung, and the new pairing added a 6-3 victory to complete the sweep. The trio of singles players, including No. 1 Aiden Kim, No. 2 Sean Yusin and No. 3 Ethan Kim, each won a set with a 6-0 score.
Crescenta Valley (5-2 overall, 3-1 in league) will visit Flintridge Prep in La Cañada Flintridge for a nonleague match on March 11 at 4 p.m. before traveling to Arcadia on March 12.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost at Arcadia 17-1 in a Pacific League match on Feb. 29 as No. 1 Alec Avedisian won a set with a 6-1 score.
Hoover (0-4 in league) will visit Glendale for a league match on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on March 14.

GLENDALE
The Nitros lost at Burbank, 17-1, in a Pacific League match on March 5 as No. 1 Lazar Ratkovic won a set, 6-4.
Glendale suffered a 16-2 league loss against visiting Burroughs High of Burbank on Feb. 29 as No. 1 Ratkovic won a pair of sets with identical 6-3 scores.
The Nitros (0-5 overall, 0-4 in league) will host Hoover High for a league match on March 12 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on March 26.
