Girls’ Lacrosse: Ballard’s Record Performance Lifts Crescenta Valley

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team secured a 16-12 victory at West Ranch High in Valencia in a nonleague game on March 5 as junior Camden Ballard racked up eight goals and three assists. She set a single-game school record with 11 total points.
Junior Sophia Lima finished with five goals, junior Kaily Kim recorded one goal and one assist, and juniors Kylie Atzert, Hannah Yi and Ashley Giboney each scored one goal.
The Falcons lost to Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach 10-4 in their Rose Bowl Jamboree finale on March 2, as sophomore Caroline Fox, Kim, Ballard and Lima each scored one goal.
Crescenta Valley defeated Northwood High of Irvine 8-3 in a tournament game on March 2 as Ballard registered four goals and one assist.
Lima and Yi each recorded one goal and one assist, sophomore Julia Marriott and Kim each chipped in one goal, and junior Maya VanLeuven was credited with one assist.
The Falcons defeated Royal High of Simi Valley 10-6 in their tournament opener on March 2.
Ballard contributed four goals and four assists, Lima finished with four goals and one assist, and Kim tallied two goals and one assist.
Crescenta Valley lost at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach 16-3 in a nonleague game on March 1. Ballard chipped in two goals and one assist, while Lima had two assists and one goal.
The Falcons (8-2 overall) will visit Marlborough High in Los Angeles for their Mission League opener on March 12 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Village Christian High of Sun Valley on March 27.

GLENDALE
The Nitros competed in the Rose Bowl Jamboree on March 2 and finished with a 3-0 record.
Glendale defeated Canyon High of Anaheim, 5-1, in its tournament finale after posting wins against Palisades High of Pacific Palisades, 7-1, and El Segundo, 9-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (6-2) will visit Westridge School in Pasadena for a league match on March 11 at 4:15 p.m. before visiting Lynwood on March 12.
