Girls’ Lacrosse: Falcons Maintain Unbeaten Start to Season

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team defeated host El Segundo 13-3 in a nonleague game on Feb. 27.
Junior Sophia Lima registered four goals and two assists, junior Camden Ballard finished with three goals and two assists, and junior Ashley Giboney chipped in two goals. Junior Kaily Kim recorded one goal and one assist, while junior Kylie Atzert, junior Maya VanLeuven and sophomore Caroline Fox each scored one goal.
The Falcons routed host Downey 11-1 in a nonleague game on Feb. 26.
Ballard racked up six goals and two assists, while Lima scored four goals. Giboney was credited with three assists, Kim tallied two assists, and Atzert contributed one goal and one assist.
Crescenta Valley (5-0 overall) will compete in the Rose Bowl Jamboree on March 2 before visiting West Ranch High in Santa Clarita on March 5.

GLENDALE
The Nitros lost at Palos Verdes High in the Palos Verdes Estates 16-6 in a nonleague game on Feb. 28. Glendale overwhelmed visiting Birmingham High of Lake Balboa with a 15-1 nonleague victory on Feb. 23. Individual statistics were not reported to the News-Press.
The Nitros (3-2) will visit Westridge School in Pasadena for a Marmonte League game on March 11 at 4:15 p.m. before traveling to Lynwood on March 12.
