Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station Welcomes Artist Proposals

The Glendale Library, Arts and Culture Department, on behalf of the city’s Arts and Culture Commission, is accepting proposals from artists who would like to display artwork in the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station.
The Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station is a historic 1936 Streamline Modern Gas Station listed on the Glendale Register of Historic Resources. The Gas Station is a 12-by-12-by-12-foot cube with acrylic windows all around, so installations can be experienced from every angle. Art is displayed on a rotational basis.
Artists whose work is chosen for installation at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station will receive a stipend of $1,000 in addition to a production budget of up to $1,500 for a total maximum stipend of $2,500. Applications are received on a year-round basis and will be reviewed annually in the spring.
This is a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their work to the Glendale community. Those interested in participating should apply soon to be considered for the 2024-25 year.
Art installations at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station are sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission and Glendale Community Services and Parks.

First published in the February 10 print issue of the Glendale News-Press.
