Crescenta Valley, Glendale Girls’ Water Polo Bow Out of CIF

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ water polo team lost at Los Osos 13-5 in its CIF Southern Section Division IV second-round game on Feb. 8.
Miranda Graham tallied eight saves, Ani Thomassian contributed three goals and Michelle Khachatryan produced two goals.
The Falcons picked up a 17-9 victory at Santa Ana in their CIF opener on Feb. 6. Graham recorded 12 saves, Thomassian scored four goals and Cara Donohoe chipped in three goals.
Crescenta Valley defeated Burbank 8-2 in the fifth-place game of the Pacific League Tournament on Feb. 1. Grahams finished with 15 saves, while Thomassian registered five goals.
Crescenta Valley finished the campaign fifth in league with a 7-4 record (17-14 overall).

GLENDALE
The Nitros lost to visiting Buena 10-4 in their CIF Southern Section Division IV opener on Feb. 7.
Junior Emily Gevorgyan recorded four blocks, junior Leora Freeman chipped in two goals, and juniors Armine Zelveyan and Brina Brati each scored one goal.
Glendale narrowly lost to Arcadia 9-8 in the Pacific League Tournament championship game on Feb. 1.
Gevorgyan finished with seven blocks, while junior Jasper Starr contributed three goals. Brati tallied two goals, while junior Leah Gaddes, Freeman and Zelveyan each registered one goal.
The Nitros finished the campaign second in league with a 7-2 record (11-12 overall).

HOOVER
The Tornados secured a 2-1 victory over Pasadena in the seventh-place game of the Pacific League Tournament on Feb. 1. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover finished the campaign seventh in league with a 1-6 record (2-7 overall).
