Martinez Brace Lifts Falcons Over Burroughs

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team defeated host Burroughs High in Burbank 2-1 in a Pacific League match on Jan. 23.
Junior Emily Martinez chipped in a pair of goals, while senior Mackenzie Elster had one assist.
The Falcons shut out visiting Hoover High 7-0 in a league matchup on Jan. 19, as sophomore Kira Lee and Martinez each scored two goals.
Freshman Arianna Dominguez finished with one goal and one assist, while senior Adamari Polanco and junior Leah Farhadian each recorded one goal. Junior Aniela Migliaccio was credited with two assists, while senior Cameron Ouye, senior Olivia Clark, junior Misganech Teahan and Elster each had one assist.
Crescenta Valley (13-5-2 overall, 10-0-1 in league) will visit Glendale for a league match on Jan. 30 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Arcadia for a crucial contest that could decide who wins the league title.

HOOVER
The Tornados ended their Pacific League match against visiting Muir in a 1-1 draw on Jan. 23 as junior Amanda Laguna scored one goal.
Hoover was shut out at Crescenta Valley High 7-0 in a league matchup on Jan. 19.
The Tornados (4-14-2, 1-8-2) will visit Burbank for a league game on Jan. 30 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Glendale for their regular-season finale on Feb. 1.

GLENDALE
The Nitros suffered a 12-0 Pacific League loss against visiting Arcadia on Jan. 23 after losing 5-0 at Muir High in Pasadena on Jan. 19. Senior goalie Amelia Knur racked up 30 saves across the two league games.
Glendale (0-16, 0-11) will host Crescenta Valley High for a league game on Jan. 30 at 3:45 p.m. before visiting Hoover High for its regular-season finale on Feb. 1.
