Crescenta Valley Remains Unbeaten in League

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team crushed host Muir High in Pasadena 71-28 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 16 as senior Kylie Ray racked up a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block.
Junior Keira Calaguas poured in 14 points to go with seven assists, three steals, one block and one rebound, freshman Yashvi Ahir registered 12 points, three rebounds and two assists, and junior Darby Stayton tallied 10 points, five rebounds and one assist. Freshman Anik Nortikyan finished with 12 rebounds, four points, three steals and one assist, while freshman Kelin Shajanian scored six points with one assist. Sophomore Amelia Parmentier chipped in three points, one steal and one assist, while freshman Lylah Dunlavey recorded two points, two rebounds and one steal. Junior Estella Aydin, freshman Emma Hovsepian and freshman Ava Gharib each collected two rebounds, while junior Tsoler Nalbandian had one rebound.
The Falcons secured a 66-28 league victory over visiting Arcadia on Jan. 12 as Ray posted a double-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Calaguas registered 12 points, four steals, two rebounds, one block and one assist, while Nortikyan recorded 11 rebounds, six points, one block and one assist. Stayton poured in seven points with five rebounds and two blocks, Ahir finished with six rebounds, four points and two steals, and Parmentier tallied four points, two steals and two rebounds. Dunlavey contributed three points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal, while Shajanian chipped in three points and three rebounds. Gharib produced two points, two rebounds and one assist, while Aydin notched two points, one steal and one assist. Freshman Teny Hovsepian was credited with two steals and two rebounds, sophomore Mila Hairapetian had one steal, and Nalbandian collected one rebound.
Crescenta Valley (15-6 overall, 9-0 in league) will host Burroughs High of Burbank for a league game on Jan. 23 at 6:45 p.m. before visiting Burbank on Jan. 26.


GLENDALE

Glendale High junior Christina Koshkerian scored 17 points to help the Nitros beat Hoover High in a Pacific League matchup on Jan. 12.

Senior captain Sella Koshkerian scored 21 points, while junior Christina Koshkerian poured in 17 points. Senior Michelle Mirzakhanian finished with six points, while juniors Natalia Andriassian and Pateel Krikorian each recorded five points. Freshman Leah Davidian chipped in four points, while senior captain Carmen Avedian and junior Aleek Khanamerian each tallied two points.
Glendale picked up a 59-40 league victory at Burbank on Jan. 16. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (14-7, 6-3) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Jan. 23 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Jan. 26.


HOOVER
The Tornados lost at Pasadena 60-27 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 16.
Junior Iren Musayelyan and sophomore Marjorie McClain each scored five points, while freshman Aleena Kalanjian chipped in four points. Junior captain Emily Aghazarian, junior Grace Mardirossian and sophomore Yeva Awades recorded each three points, while sophomores Elva Aghajanyan and Michelle Cline each finished with two points.
Hoover suffered a 64-10 league loss against visiting Glendale on Jan. 12. Musayelyan tallied five points, Aghazarian registered four points and Awades had one point.
The Tornados (1-13, 0-9) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 23 at 6:45 p.m. before traveling to Burroughs High in Burbank on Jan. 26.
