Crescenta Valley Shakes Off Glendale

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated Pasadena 52-23 in a Pacific League matchup on Jan. 9 as senior Kylie Ray racked up 26 points to help extend the Falcons’ winning streak to four games.
Junior Keira Calaguas finished with seven points, while junior Darby Stayton tallied six points. Freshman Kelin Shajanian scored four points, junior Estella Aydin, sophomore Amelia Parmentier, freshman Lylah Dunlavey and freshman Yashvi Ahir each had two points, and freshman Emma Hovsepian chipped in one point.
The Falcons secured a 67-47 nonleague victory over visiting Diamond Bar on Jan. 6 as Ray amassed 31 points.
Ahir and Shajanian each registered seven points, while freshman Anik Nortikyan contributed six points. Sophomore Mila Hairapetian and Aydin each produced three points, while junior Tsoler Nalbandian, Parmentier, Dunlavey and Calaguas each scored two points.
Crescenta Valley narrowly defeated host Glendale 53-52 in a league game on Jan. 4.
Ray poured in 26 points, while Calaguas finished with 16 points. Dunlavey scored three points, while Nortikyan, Stayton, Ahir and Shajanian each recorded two points.
The Falcons (13-6 overall, 7-0 in league) will visit Muir High in Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m. before traveling to Hoover High on Jan. 19.


HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia 59-22 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9.
Juniors Iren Musayelyan and Grace Mardirossian each scored six points, sophomore Michelle Cline and freshman Aya Ter-Martirosyan each finished with four points, and junior captain Emily Aghazarian chipped in three points.
Hoover suffered a 60-25 league loss at Burbank on Jan. 4, as freshman Aleena Kalanijan recorded nine points.
Freshman Sophia Maissian tallied six points, while Musayelyan registered five points. Mardirossian contributed three points, while Ter-Martirosyan produced two points.
Hoover (1-11, 0-7) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 19.


GLENDALE

Glendale High School junior Christina Koshkerian and the Nitros will visit Burbank for a Pacific League game on Jan. 16.

The Nitros lost at Burroughs High of Burbank 49-39 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 9. Glendale narrowly lost to visiting Crescenta Valley High 53-52 in a league game on Jan. 4. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (12-7, 4-3) will visit Burbank for a league game on Jan. 16 at 6:45 p.m. before hosting Muir High of Pasadena on Jan. 19.
