Glendale Sinks Pasadena in League Opener

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ water polo team secured a 17-7 victory at Pasadena in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 21.
Juniors Brina Brati and Leora Freeman each finished with four goals, while juniors Ani Ttuyan and Armine Zelveyan each scored three goals. Junior Leah Gaddes chipped in two goals, while sophomore Kenzie Durry recorded one goal.
The Nitros defeated visiting Los Altos High of Hacienda Heights 6-4 in a nonleague game on Dec. 22.
Freeman and Zelveyan each tallied two goals, while junior Inessa Khajehgian and Brati each had one goal.
Glendale (5-4 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit Saint Joseph High in Lakewood for a nonleague game on Jan. 3 at 3 p.m. before resuming league play against Crescenta Valley on Jan. 4.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost to visiting Burbank 5-2 in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 21. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (1-2, 0-1) will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before traveling to Arcadia on Jan. 9.

CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons have been away from the pool since losing to Muir High of Pasadena in their Pacific League opener on Dec. 20.
CVHS (4-2, 0-1) will visit Glendale for a league game on Jan. 4 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Pasadena on Jan. 9.
