Police Arrest Motorist in Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Death

A Glendale motorist allegedly involved in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Sunland was arrested Wednesday, police said.
The victim, who was in his 40s, was struck by a vehicle at about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 10000 block of Sunland Boulevard. He died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
The 28-year-old driver, a Glendale resident, was arrested early Wednesday morning. He was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, according to the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was being held without bail, the sheriff’s department reported.
“Witnesses described a gray 2023 Tesla Model 3 traveling southbound [on] Sunland Boulevard when it struck a pedestrian crossing the street west of Sunland Way,” an LAPD statement said. “The driver of the Tesla fled without stopping to render aid or identify themselves, as required by law.”
LAPD Valley Traffic Division detectives conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect, police said.
