Ahir, Dunlavey Send Falcons Soaring Over Tornados

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team routed visiting Hoover High 87-13 in a Pacific League game on Dec. 12.
Freshman Yashvi Ahir registered 12 points, three assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal, freshman Lylah Dunlavey tallied 12 points, three rebounds and two assists, and freshman Anik Nortikyan contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, five steals, two blocks and one assist. Freshman Kelin Shajanian produced nine points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal, while junior Estella Aydin recorded eight points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Senior Kylie Ray chipped in seven points, three assists, one steal and one rebound, freshman Emma Hovsepian collected seven rebounds, six points, two steals and one assist, and freshman Teny Hovsepian scored seven points with one steal. Junior Keira Calaguas notched six points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists, while sophomore Amelia Parmentier had six points, three assists and two steals. Freshman Ava Gharib collected six rebounds, five assists and two points, sophomore Mila Hairapetian had three rebounds, two blocks, two points and one assist, and junior Tsoler Nalbandian was credited with six rebounds, one block and one steal.
The Falcons secured a 76-58 nonleague victory at Calabasas on Dec. 9 as Ray amassed 28 points, seven assists, five steals, five rebounds and one block.
Calaguas registered 14 points, four rebounds, two steals, two blocks and two assists, while Parmentier tallied 14 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Ahir recorded eight points, two rebounds and one assist, junior Darby Stayton contributed seven rebounds, four points, two assists and one steal, and Shajanian produced four points and one rebound. Nortikyan finished with three rebounds, two points and one block, Gharib collected three rebounds and two points, and Hairapetian had one rebound.
Crescenta Valley posted a 74-51 league victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Dec. 8 as Ray racked up 27 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Parmentier contributed 12 points, two steals and two rebounds, while Nortikyan finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Calaguas produced six points, three steals, one block, one rebound and one assist, while Ahir registered six points, three rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block. Shajanian tallied six points, four rebounds and one assist, Stayton recorded eight rebounds, six points, two assists and one steal, and Gharib chipped in eight rebounds, three points and one block. Nalbandian had four rebounds, while Aydin notched two rebounds. Dunlavey had one steal and one rebound, Teny Hovsepian had one rebound and one assist, and Hairapetian was credited with one assist.
The Falcons lost at Palisades High in Pacific Palisades 83-60 in a nonleague game on Dec. 7.
Ray posted a double-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Stayton finished with 13 rebounds, 11 points and one assist. Calaguas finished with 10 points, five assists, two steals and two rebounds, Ahir contributed nine points, four rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist, and Shajanian registered seven points, four assists and one rebound. Nortikyan tallied five rebounds, two points and one steal, while Gharib scored two points with one rebound. Parmentier produced one steal and one rebound, while Emma Hovsepian, Teny Hovsepian, Aydin and Dunlavey each had one steal.
Crescenta Valley High (6-3 overall, 3-0 in league) will visit Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City for a nonleague game on Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. before hosting Burbank on Dec. 21.

HOOVER
The Tornados lost at Crescenta Valley High 87-13 in a Pacific League game on Dec. 12.
Junior Iren Musayelyan finished with eight points, sophomore Michelle Cline and freshman Aya Ter-Martirosyan each scored two points, and freshman Aleena Kalanijan had one point.
Hoover lost to visiting Pasadena 57-20 in a league game on Dec. 7.
Musayelyan recorded five points, while junior Grace Mardirossian and Cline each scored four points. Sophomore Yeva Awades finished with three points, while Evelyn Torosiyan and Kalanijan each chipped in two points.
The Tornados (1-7, 0-3) will host Burroughs High of Burbank for a league game on Dec. 21 at 5:15 p.m. before visiting Burbank on Jan. 4.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Kalin Zadoori and the Nitros defeated Muir High in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.

The Nitros defeated Muir High of Pasadena, 59-42, and Burbank, 48-17, in a pair of Pacific League games on Dec. 12 and Dec. 8, respectively. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Glendale (8-3, 2-1) will visit Pasadena for a league game on Dec. 21 at 5:15 p.m. before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Jan. 1.
