Glendale Falls Short Against La Cañada in Nonleague Contest

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ water polo team lost to visiting La Cañada 9-7 in a nonleague game on Dec. 6.
Junior Leora Freeman registered four goals, junior Inessa Khajehgian tallied two goals and junior Brina Brati scored one goal.
The Nitros secured a 17-6 nonleague victory over visiting West High of Torrance on Nov. 30.
Junior Jasper Starr racked up five goals, while Brati contributed four goals. Junior Armine Zelveyan, Khajehgian and Freeman each tallied two goals, while junior Ani Ttuyan and sophomore Kenzie Durry chipped in one goal.
Glendale (3-3 overall) will host California High of Whittier for a nonleague game on Dec. 14 at 3:45 p.m. before hosting Los Altos High of Hacienda Heights on Dec. 18.

CRESCENTA VALLEY
The Falcons opened the regular season competing in the Warrior Holiday Tournament on Dec. 1 and 2. Crescenta Valley secured a pair of wins against Citrus Valley High of Redlands, 8-4, and Rowland High of Rowland Heights, 8-2, but suffered an 8-3 season-opening loss against Culver City. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Crescenta Valley (2-1) will compete in the Holiday in the Hills Tournament before hosting Muir High of Pasadena for its Pacific League opener on Dec. 20.

HOOVER
The Tornados have not played a game since beating Westridge School of Pasadena in a nonleague game on Nov. 17.
Hoover (1-0) will visit Walnut for a nonleague game on Dec. 11 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Burbank in its Pacific League opener on Dec. 21.
