Falcons, Tornados Knocked Out of Playoffs

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ tennis team lost to visiting Whitney in games, 9-9 (74-70) in their CIF Southern Section Division II opener on Nov. 1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Gabriella Rouveyrol and Nicolette Aghabegian swept with scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, while the No. 2 tandem of Liudmila Abadzheva and Elena Manuelian also swept with scores of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3 for Crescenta Valley, ranked No. 10 in Division II. The No. 3 duo of Allison Bashar and Hailee Yoon won a set, 6-1, while No. 2 Natalie Mirbegian and No. 3 Claudia Chmielewski each won a set with a 6-3 score.
The Falcons concluded the season as the Pacific League runner-up with a 12-2 record (14-5 overall).


HOOVER

The Tornados lost at Cate High in Carpinteria 15-3 in their CIF Southern Section Division III opener on Nov. 1.
No. 1 Jackyln Tolomyan posted a 6-1 victory in singles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Katherine Nalchajyan and Evenna Amirian won a set, 7-6, while the No. 2 tandem of Savannah Sanchez and Malvina Karapetyan added a 6-2 victory.
Hoover finished the campaign fourth in the Pacific League with a 9-6 record (9-7 overall).
