Zakaryan, Abnussi Power Nitros Past Muir

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo picked up an 11-8 Pacific League victory over host Muir High in Pasadena on Oct. 10.
David Zakaryan tallied four saves, while Edgar Abnussi scored four goals. Arno Ghazaryan recorded three goals and one assist, while Artin Ghazaryan produced two goals and two assists. August Kalaba contributed one goal and one steal, Karlen Avetisyan chipped in with one goal, and Andrew Klujian had one assist and one steal.
The Nitros edged host Valencia High in Placentia in overtime 11-10 in a nonlegaue game on Oct. 9, as Artin Ghazaryan racked up five goals and one assist.
Zakaryan registered three saves, Robert Lazaryan and Klujian each scored two goals, and Abnussi and Kalaba each added one goal.
Glendale lost to visiting Burroughs High of Burbank 16-6 in a league game on Oct. 5.
Zakaryan produced four saves, while Artin Ghazaryan recorded three goals. Kalaba collected one goal and one assist, while Klujian and Abnussi each had one goal.
The Nitros (13-14 overall, 3-2 in league) will host Hoover High of Glendale for a league game on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League Tournament at Glendale High on Oct. 20, 24 and 26.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost to visiting Arcadia 9-7 in a Pacific League game on Oct. 10.
Sophomore Arthur Tarkhchyan tallied three goals, while senior Rocco Boyadjian, junior Rafael Davtyan, sophomore David Tarkhchyan and freshman Armen Tarakhchyan each added one goal.
Hoover posted a 13-6 league victory over visiting Muir High of Pasadena on Oct. 5 as David Tarkhchyan scored three goals.
Senior Tigran Sargsyan, junior Davit Harutyunyan, junior Haik Aghadjanian and Arthur Tarkhchyan each chipped with in two goals, while senior Andre Ambarchyan and Tarakhchyan each had one goal.
The Tornados (9-8, 1-4) will visit Glendale for a league game on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League Tournament.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons narrowly lost at Burroughs High in Burbank 10-9 in a Pacific League showdown on Oct. 10.
Mark Abdou racked up nine saves, while Sebastian Rivera finished with three goals. Daron Alexanians and Levon Babayan each recorded two goals, while Aaron Choi and Alex Movsesyan each chipped in with one goal.
CVHS competed in the Troy Tournament on Oct. 6 and 7, finishing with a 1-3 record after beating Santiago High of Corona, 10-6, in its finale.
Abdou contributed 11 saves, while Movsesyan scored four goals. Daron Alexanians recorded two goals, while Edgar Galstyan, Rivera, Aaron Choi and Babayan each tallied one goal.
The Falcons were edged by Bonita High of La Verne, 9-8, to open the first day of tournament play on Oct. 7.
Babayan chipped in three goals, while Abdou made three saves. Daron Alexanians scored two goals, while Movsesyan, Galstyan and Rivera each had one goal.
Crescenta Valley ended the first day of tournament action with an 11-2 loss against La Serna High of Whittier on Oct. 6. Abdou produced seven saves, while Movsesyan and Babayan each notched one goal.
The Falcons lost to Classical Academy High of Escondido 9-7 in their tournament opener on Oct. 6.

CVHS crushed host Pasadena 26-8 in a league game on Oct. 5 as Anthony Sarkissian and Evan Choi each scored three goals
Aaron Choi, Preston Conroy, Daron Alexanians, Dion Alexanians, Vince Kalachian and Babayan each tallied two goals. Abdou registered three saves and one goal, while Brayden Shabani, Adrian Choi, Noah Taikaldiranian, Movsesyan and Rivera each added one goal.
The Falcons (12-13, 3-2) will host Arcadia for a league game on Oct. 18 at 3:30 p.m. before competing in the Pacific League Tournament.
