Falcons’ Three-Game Win Streak Snapped in Pacific League Opener

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity football team fell 34-6 to visiting Muir High of Pasadena in its Pacific League opener on Sept. 29.
Senior quarterback Jacob Deno completed 10 passes for 163 yards, while junior Chander Thome made four catches for 65 yards. Senior Jackson Roehr made a 20-yard catch with an interception on defense, sophomore Xavier Thompson had three receptions for 17 yards, and senior Bjorn Hermansen had a 12-yard catch.
Senior Andranik Saryan rushed for 21 yards on five carries, made a 49-yard catch and racked up 11 tackles with a sack on defense. Senior Cristian Flores had three carries for 16 yards, while junior Jesse Flores and sophomore Leonidas Grant each rushed for 1 yard.
Sophomore Torin Blunt racked up eight tackles, while senior Lachlan Blunt tallied six tackles and a sack. Senior Michael Clark finished with five tackles, while senior Jake Dunlavey and junior Tyler Matsuda each chipped in four tackles. Senior Nathan Martinez and junior Samvel Yengibaryan each produced two tackles, while junior Dominic Saris had one tackle.
The Falcons (4-2 overall, 0-1 in league) hosted Burbank on Oct. 6; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. CVHS will visit Pasadena for a league game on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. before visiting Burroughs High in Burbank on Oct. 20.
