Trio Helps Tornados Blank Alhambra

The Hoover High School varsity boys’ water polo team shut out visiting Alhambra 25-0 in a nonleague game on Sept. 12.
Senior Michael Arabian, senior Tigran Sargsyan and freshman Armen Tarakhchyan each finished with three goals. Senior Gore Sargsyan, senior Alex Bazinyan, junior Rafael Davtyan, junior Haik Aghadjanian two goals and sophomore Arthur Tarkhchyan each tallied two goals. Senior Tigran Mkrtumyan, senior Grickore Danelyan, senior Andre Ambarchyan, senior Rocco Boyadjian, sophomore David Tarkhchyan one goal and freshman Harutyun Khachatryan each scored one goal.
The Tornados lost to visiting San Marino 14-9 in a nonleague game on Sept. 8.
Davtyan and Tarakhchyan each contributed three goals, sophomore Nicholas Boyadjian recorded two goals and David Tarkhchyan had one goal.
Hoover dominated visiting Rowland High of Rowland Heights 22-6 in a nonleague game on Sept. 6 as Mkrtumyan, Aghadjanian and junior Davit Harutyunyan each led the team with four goals.
David Tarkhchyan finished with three goals, Arthur Tarkhchyan, Tarakhchyan and Davtyan each registered two goals, and Boyadjian scored once.
The Tornados previously picked up a 12-6 nonleague victory at Schurr High in Montebello. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
Hoover (5-3 overall) will open Pacific League action by hosting powerhouse Burbank on Sept. 26 before hosting Crescenta Valley High on Sept. 28.


CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School’s Brayden Shabani scored twice to help the Falcons beat St. Francis High in a nonleague game last week.


The Falcons dominated visiting St. Francis High of La Cañada Flintridge 15-5 in a nonleague game on Sept. 6 as Dion Alexanians and Alex Movsesyan each scored three goals.
Levon Babayan, Devin Janparian and Brayden Shabani each finished with two goals while Daron Alexanians, Anthony Sarkissian and Nathan Garabedian each added one goal.
CVHS (5-2 overall) will visit La Cañada for a nonleague game on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before opening Pacific League action at Muir High in Pasadena on Sept. 26.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School’s Daniel Petrossian scored two goals to help the Nitros beat Rowland High in a nonleague game last week.


The Nitros lost at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 15-9 in a nonleague game on Sept. 12.
Artin Ghazaryan scored four goals, while Robert Lazaryan collected three goals and one block. Arno Ghazaryan tallied one goal and one steal, while Andrew Klujian contributed one goal and one assist. David Zakaryan finished with six saves, while August Kalaba had one steal.
Glendale picked up a 10-5 nonleague victory over visiting South Pasadena on Sept. 11 as Zakaryan racked up 11 saves.
Artin Ghazaryan, Lazaryan and Klujian each produced three goals while Kalaba recorded one goal and one assist.
The Nitros routed visiting Rowland High of Rowland Heights 17-2 in a nonleague game on Sept. 9.
Kalaba tallied three goals and three saves, while Artin Ghazaryan registered three goals. Arno Ghazaryan, Daniel Petrossian, Lazaryan and Klujian each scored two goals, while Nshan Demirtshyan, Karlen Avetisyan and Aidan Fieda each had one goal.
Glendale previously lost a nonleague game at La Habra 18-11.
Arno Ghazaryan contributed four goals and two blocks, while Kalaba collected four saves and two goals. Artin Ghazaryan and Klujian each scored twice, Lazaryan had one goal and Fieda had one block.
The Nitros (4-6 overall) will host Peninsula High of the Rolling Hills Estates on Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Flintridge Preparatory of La Cañada Flintridge on Sept. 19.
