Portantino, City Host Bike Safety Day Event

State Sen. Anthony Portantino, in collaboration with the Automobile Club of Southern California, the City of Glendale Community Services & Parks and Walk ‘n Rollers hosted a day of bicycle safety last week. The event was held at Pacific Community Center in Glendale.
Glendale Mayor Dan Brotman delivered welcoming remarks to the more than 100 parents and children who attended and participated.
“As an avid, daily biker I was excited to help create this fun and important safety day for our community — especially our kids,” Portantino said.
“I was happy to team up with the city of Glendale Community Services and Parks Department, the Automobile Club of Southern California and Walk ‘n Rollers to provide families an opportunity to learn important bike safety skills and best practices. It was a great way to encourage our community to be more active while learning how to do it in a responsible way,” he added.
Participants at this free community event learned about essential bike safety skills. Attendees received free bike helmets, free bike tune-ups, bike bells and goody bags. Portantino was also pleased to raffle off three new bicycles.
