Falcons Beat Tornados; Nitros Edged by Arcadia

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity baseball team picked up its fourth consecutive victory after routing visiting Muir High of Pasadena, 10-2, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday as Chris Torres went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and a run.
Ryan Ivanyi went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Nico Terenzi went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run, and Jimmy Spears went 2-for-2 with a run. Pitcher Connor Campbell posted a win after allowing two hits with two strikeouts over four scoreless innings. Jonah Yi picked up a save after allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts over three innings. Dashiell Schultz registered a hit, an RBI, a run and a stolen base while Jake Deno tallied a hit and two runs. Brandon Kwon finished with an RBI and a run, Tyler Garland walked once, and Nick Borshe scored once.
The Falcons blanked visiting Hoover High, 10-0, in the back end of a doubleheader last Friday. Campbell tossed three scoreless and hitless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win while Yi pitched a pair of scoreless innings in relief with two strikeouts and two hits. Terenzi went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run, Ivanyi went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs, an RBI and a stolen base, and Deno went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a stolen base. Kwon produced a double, two RBIs and a run while Garland recorded a double and a run. Jake Rendo tallied a hit and two runs while Torres finished with a hit and an RBI. Schultz walked once and scored a run while Spears walked once.
CVHS posted an 18-1 blowout victory over Hoover last Friday as Terenzi, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBIs and a walk, pitched a complete game with four strikeouts, four hits and one unearned run. Charlie Carafotes went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run, Everett Pam registered a double, an RBI and a walk, and Rendo tallied a double, an RBI and a run. Schultz finished with a hit, three RBIs, a run and a walk, Andrew Klein recorded a hit and two RBIs, and Spears produced a hit, an RBI and a run. Ivanyi and Kwon each had two runs, an RBI and a walk while Kwon had two runs, an RBI and a walk. Andres Bocanegra walked twice and scored once while Colin Moore, Jackson Hemmie and Tyler Oliver each scored once.
The Falcons (11-4 overall, 7-0 in league) will host Vista Murrieta High for a nonleague game Saturday at 6 p.m. before hosting La Cañada on April 9.

HOOVER

The Tornados were shut out at Burbank, 10-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Junior Julian Corral went 2-for-2 with a stolen base while sophomore Gabriel Flores walked once and stole a base.
Hoover lost the back end of a doubleheader at Crescenta Valley, 10-0, in a league game last Friday. Senior Fernando Gallegos and freshman Isaiah Magana each recorded a base hit, junior Bryan Olmedo stole a base after reaching on a hit-by-pitch and Corral had three strikeouts over four innings on the mound.
The Tornados lost to Crescenta Valley, 18-1, in the first game of a doubleheader last Friday. Corral went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base, Gallegos went 2-for-2 and Olmedo scored once.
Hoover (4-10 overall, 0-7 in league) will visit Duarte for a nonleague game on Tuesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting St. Genevieve High of Panorama City on April 6.

Glendale High School sophomore Joe Tapia walked twice and stole a base during a Pacific League game against Arcadia on Tuesday.

GLENDALE

The Nitros were edged by visiting Arcadia, 6-5, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Senior captain Frankie Malagon went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a run and a walk while junior Brandon Guzman pitched two scoreless innings of relief with one strikeout, a walk and no hits. Senior Erik Chavez recorded a hit, a run, a stolen base and a walk, junior Jason Martinez tallied a hit, a run and a stolen base, and freshman Jeremy Furhman a hit and an RBI. Senior Josh Hopkins finished with a walk, an RBI and a run, senior Javier Solis registered a walk and an RBI, sophomore Joe Tapia walked twice, scored once and stole a base, and senior Sean Forero and junior Austin Aldrete each walked once.
Glendale narrowly lost at Lakewood, 5-4, in a nonleague game last Saturday. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (6-10 overall, 2-3 in league) will open a two-game league series against visiting Burroughs High of Burbank on Tuesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m.

ST. MONICA ACADEMY

Seamus Collins pitched a no-hitter as the Crusaders edged visiting Lancaster Baptist, 2-1, in a Heritage League game.
St. Monica Academy (2-6 overall, 1-4 in league) will visit Faith Baptist High in Canoga Park for a league game on Tuesday, April 4, at 3:30 p.m.
