Ascencia to Honor Longtime Supporters at Gala

Ascencia will hold its 15th Annual Gala on Saturday, April 22, at City Club L.A. to raise funds for the life-saving services that the nonprofit has provided to people experiencing homelessness during the past 16 years.
Ascencia’s theme for its largest fundraiser of the year is We Rise Together.
“Our agency relies on our individual donors, corporate sponsors, government grantors, foundation contributors, community partners, and those of you who volunteer to lift up our community. We simply cannot do what we do without the help of our generous supporters,” Ascencia Executive Director Laura Duncan said in a statement.
The community will come together for Ascencia’s April event to raise funds to support lifting more people out of homelessness.
Paul N. and Paulette R. Wood Charitable Trust will be given this year’s Hope and Compassion Award, an award reserved for a selfless community leader or inspirational visionary who has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to Ascencia’s mission. The Woods have been fervent supporters of Ascencia for almost 10 years. Paulette Ramsay Wood has served on the Ascencia Board of Directors since 2020, and now serves as its vice president.
“Paulette has worked incredibly hard to propel Ascencia forward. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does, and we are truly fortunate to have her by our side,” Duncan said.
The Woods said in a statement that when you believe in the mission of Ascencia, it’s easy to
support its efforts: “We draw inspiration to contribute to Ascencia from our time living in Hawaii and learning from their culture. They have a phrase: ‘Lana kakou i ka hauoli o ha I,’ which means ‘We rise by lifting others up.’”
