Falcons Snap Skid With Win Over Culver City

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team snapped a two-game losing streak after defeating visiting Culver City, 14-7, in a nonleague matchup on Monday as sophomore Camden Ballard racked up a team-high five goals in consecutive games.
Senior captain Brianne Ballard registered four goals and two assists while senior captain Ashlyn Burton finished with two goals and one assist. Senior Shari Park tallied one goal and two assists, senior Stephanie Voskanian recorded one goal and one assist, and sophomore Ashley Giboney scored once.
The Falcons were edged at St. Margaret’s High in San Juan Capistrano, 12-11, in a nonleague game last Saturday as Camden Ballard registered five goals. Brianne Ballard finished with two goals and three assists while sophomore Sophia Lima scored a pair of goals. Park and Voskanian each had one goal while Burton was credited with an assist.
CVHS previously lost a nonleague game at Oak Park, 15-9. Lima scored a team-high three goals while Camden Ballard and Burton each recorded two goals. Sophomore Kaylani Parker and Park each tallied one goal while Brianne Ballard was credited with a pair of assists.
Crescenta Valley (4-2 overall) will compete in the Gold Coast Invitational on Saturday before hosting Mira Costa High of Manhattan Beach on Monday, March 27, at 4 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros edged visiting Downey, 9-8, in a nonleague game on Monday. Glendale previously lost to Newbury Park, 13-4, and Murrieta Valley, 7-6. Individual statistics were not reported by the Glendale coaching staff to the Glendale News-Press.
The Nitros (2-4 overall) will visit Redondo Union High of Redondo Beach for a nonleague game on Wednesday, March 22, at 4 p.m.
