Nitros, Falcons Win; Tornados Tie Pasadena

The Glendale High School varsity girls’ soccer team blanked visiting Burbank, 2-0, in a Pacific League encounter on Tuesday.
Seniors Angela Krikorian and Alexa Alvarez each scored one goal, junior Alyssa Araya was credited with a pair of assists, and junior goalie Amelia Knur tallied one save to earn the shutout. Senior Michelle Navarro registered seven shots on goal, senior Ysabella Sanchez posted five shots on target, and seniors Brianna Diaz and Bianca Hinojosa each had one shot.
The Nitros previously lost a league matchup at Burroughs High in Burbank, 2-0, as Navarro had a pair of shots on goal.
Glendale visited Hoover High for an intracity rivalry league matchup yesterday; the game ended after the Glendale News-Press’ deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Nitros (4-8 overall, 2-5 in league) will host Arcadia in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:30 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School junior Kaylee Yoxsimer was credited with an assist to help the Falcons blank Muir High in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.

The Falcons won their fourth consecutive game after routing host Muir High in Pasadena, 6-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Leah Farhadian recorded a pair of goals while senior Giovana Aldaz, senior Jasmine Senteza, junior Mia Pulido and junior Olivia Clark each had one goal. Senior Angelina Grigoryan tallied a pair of assists while senior Sofia Lopez, senior Allison Park, junior Kaylee Yoxsimer and sophomore Misganech Teahan were each credited with an assist.
CVHS previously blanked visiting Burbank in a league matchup, 4-0. Farhadian scored two goals while Aldaz registered one goal and two assists. Senior Calliope Araz produced one goal while Kira Lee and Teahan each had an assist.
The Falcons (8-5-1 overall, 6-0-1 in league) will host Pasadena in a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:15 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover High School sophomore Katie Coppersmith and the Tornados will visit Burroughs High in Burbank for a league game on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 3:30 p.m.

The Tornados posted their third draw in four contests after ending a Pacific League game against visiting Pasadena without a score on Tuesday.
Hoover previously produced scoreless draws against South Gate in a nonleague game last Saturday and Muir High of Pasadena in a league game last Thursday.
The Tornados routed Academia Avance High of Los Angeles in a nonleague game, 6-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press by the Hoover coaching staff.
