A 19-year-old Sylmar woman died after she was hit by an MTA bus in La Crescenta on New Year’s Day.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Dunsmore Avenue, according to Glendale police.
Acting Police Chief Andrew Jenks said a video from the MTA bus that struck the 19-year-old indicated that the incident was a suicide.
The L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office ruled the manner of death and reported the cause of death as “multiple blunt trauma.” The woman died at the scene of the accident.
Reports given to Jenks document that the woman was standing behind a car on Dunsmore Avenue and stepped in front of the bus as it drove by. Jenks mentioned that the family of the woman has been notified of the incident and the status of the police department’s investigation into the case remains open.
