Tornados, Falcons, Nitros Open League

The Hoover High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost to visiting Burroughs High of Burbank, 4-0, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday.
The Tornados previously won their league opener at Muir High in Pasadena, 3-1. Junior captain Lillian Yousefian, junior Fiona Gilbert and sophomore Katherine Coppersmith each scored once while senior Tamar Chavdarian had seven saves.
Hoover (4-2 overall, 1-1 in league) will visit Burbank for a league game on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School Allison Park was credited with an assist to help the Falcons blank Burbank in their Pacific League opener.

The Falcons tied host Pasadena, 1-1, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday. Freshman Kira Lee scored the opening goal on an assist by junior Mia Pulido in the first half before Pasadena tied it in the second half.
CVHS competed in the Best in the West tournament last weekend and lost both its games last Saturday. The Falcons ended with a 3-0 loss against Downey after opening the tournament with a 2-1 loss against La Habra. Junior Adamari Polanco scored a header on an assist by senior Angelina Grigoryan in the second half of the tournament opener.
Crescenta Valley previously opened league action by blanking host Burbank, 5-0, as Lee registered a hat trick. Junior Cameron Ouye and Grigoryan each scored once while seniors Stephanie Schaupp and Allison Park were each credited with an assist.
The Falcons (2-4-1 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will continue league play by hosting Glendale on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:15 p.m.

GLENDALE

Glendale High School senior Michelle Navarro scored one goal in the Nitros’ Pacific League opener last week.

The Nitros were shut out at Arcadia, 3-0, in a Pacific League match on Tuesday.
Glendale previously lost its league opener against visiting Burroughs High of Burbank, 3-1, as senior Michelle Navarro scored the lone goal.
The Nitros (2-4 overall, 0-2 in league) will visit Crescenta Valley for a nonleague game on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:15 p.m.
