Falcons, Nitros Remain Undefeated in League

The Crescenta Valley High School boys’ soccer team won a thrilling Pacific League matchup over visiting Pasadena, 2-1, on Tuesday. Senior Lukas Elze scored the deciding goal with 30 seconds remaining.
The Falcons claimed a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by senior Matt Sheen before Pasadena tied the match early in the second half.
CVHS blanked visiting Burbank, 3-0, in a league game last Friday as senior Luis Gong registered a pair of goals. Senior Yorck Einhaus scored once while senior Miros Abedian, senior Lukas Elze and junior Grant Hovhannisyan were each credited with an assist.
The Falcons previously lost the Burroughs Tournament championship against La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena, 1-0. Sheen, Elze and Gong were each selected to the all-tournament team.
Crescenta Valley (7-1 overall, 2-0 in league) will visit Glendale for a league matchup on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m.

GLENDALE

The Nitros blanked visiting Arcadia, 3-0, in a Pacific League game on Tuesday. It was Glendale’s second shutout in as many games and fourth in first five contests.
Junior Hani Ahmadie had the game-winning goal and added an assist, juniors Xavier Lu and Edgar Naghdalyan each scored once, and junior Kevin Anjunyan recorded a pair of assists. Meanwhile, junior goalie Emil Sarkisians recorded his second straight shutout and has yet to allow a goal in a league game.
Glendale previously routed host Burroughs High in Burbank, 4-0, in its league opener last week as senior Andrey Simonyan registered a hat trick with one assist.
Sophomore Tony Torosyan scored once while junior Eddy Dagbashyan, Sarkisians and Ahmadie were each credited with an assist.
The Nitros (5-0 overall, 2-0 in league) will host Crescenta Valley in a league matchup on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados tied host Burroughs High in Burbank, 2-2, in a Pacific League matchup on Tuesday. Hoover was previously edged by visiting Taft High of Woodland Hills in a nonleague game, 1-0. Individual statistics were not reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Tornados (2-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 in league) will host Burbank in a league matchup on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m.
