Falcons, Tornados, Nitros Compete in League Finals

The Crescenta Valley High School varsity girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams swept the Pacific League finals at Arcadia County Park last Thursday.
The CVHS boys’ team posted 24 points while having six of their seven runners capture a top-10 placement. Senior Parker Simmons won the 3-mile race with a 14:20.9 time, while senior Harrison Connors was the runner-up with a 14:40.6 time. Senior Luke Cheney (14:45.2) and junior Eddie Sion (14:51.4) took fifth and seventh, respectively, while senior Jamie Cartnal (15:02.2) placed ninth. Junior Joshua Chambers (15:03.4) and senior Reed Sinclair (15:26.1) rounded out the pack with 10th and 12th place finishes, respectively.
The Crescenta Valley girls’ team also had a fine outing en route to capturing a league title with 45 points, as three Falcons finished in the top 10. Sophomore Emilia Greenway (17:48.7) finished third out of 37 runners in the 3-mile race, while seniors Annabelle Tanner (18:03.1) and Emma Haworth (18:06.7) placed sixth and eighth, respectively. Senior Julia Linney (19:34.1) took 13th, junior Samantha Talbot (19:36.1) finished 15th, and sophomore Madeline Cho (19:44.6) and junior Anthea Perez (19:56.3) rounded out the pack with 17th and 19th place finishes.
The Falcons will compete in the CIF Southern Section prelims on Saturday, Nov. 12.

HOOVER

The Hoover High School varsity cross-country teams competed in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia County Park last Thursday, as both the girls’ and the boys’ teams finished fifth overall with 119 and 185 points, respectively.
Sophomore Emma Canal (18:05.0) finished seventh out of 37 participants in the 3-mile race for the girls’ team, while freshman Emily Ovasapyan (19:58.1) and sophomore Ani Weimar (20:46.0) placed 20th and 23rd, respectively. Sophomore Isabel Maghaguian (24:50.7) took 32nd, while Nellie Daniel (26:44.3) placed 37th.
Meanwhile for the boys’ team, sophomores Nathan Klem (19:57.7) and Kervin Garcia (19:58.4) finished 37th and 38th, respectively, while freshman Peter Villa (20:48.0) was 39th. Sophomores Aidan Herbulot (21:18.4), Christopher Kim (21:25.1), Linus Hartigan (22:18.2) and Joshua Ahlers (22:31.0) rounded out the pack in 40th, 41st, 42nd and 43rd, respectively.
The Tornados will compete in the CIF Southern Section prelims on Saturday, Nov. 12.

GLENDALE

The Glendale High School varsity cross-country teams competed in the Pacific League finals at Arcadia County Park last Thursday.
The girls’ team finished sixth with 121 points in the 3-mile race, as senior Lilit Arakelyan (19:28.0) and freshman Alexa Nagasawa (19:33.4) placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Freshman Maram Yassine (24:20.7) took 31st, while freshman Dalila McAllister (24:52.1) and sophomore Lucia Berkovic (25:07.2) finished 33rd and 34th, respectively.
The boys’ team only had a pair of runners participate, as seniors Eric Petrossian (18:53.5) and Edward Dartinian (19:26.0) finished the 3-mile race in 35th and 36th, respectively.
The Nitros will compete in the CIF Southern Section prelims on Saturday, Nov. 12.
