Nitros, Falcons, Tornados Collect Victories

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team, which has won two of its most recent three games, was edged by visiting Flintridge Preparatory School of La Cañada Flintridge, 12-11, in a nonleague game on Tuesday.
Sophomore Robert Lazaryan led with five goals, while senior Gregory Carrillo and sophomore August Kalaba each posted a pair of goals two goals. Senior Andrew Azizian and junior Andrew Klujian each had one goal, and junior David Zakaryan made five saves.
The Nitros picked up their second straight victory after edging visiting Temecula Valley High in double overtime, 15-14, in a nonleague game on Monday. Carrillo produced four goals, while senior Arthur Ter-Matevosyan and Kalaba each registered three goals. Lazaryan finished with two goals, while Azizian and junior Artin Ghazaryan each tallied one goal.
Glendale snapped its eight-game losing streak after defeating host Eagle Rock High School of the CIF-Los Angeles City Section, 17-7, in a nonleague game last Friday, as junior Arno Ghazaryan and Azizian each collected three goals. Ter-Matevosyan, Carrillo and Klujian each scored a pair of goals, while Lazaryan, Zakaryan, and juniors Edgar Abnussi and Narek Azarian each finished with one goal.
The Nitros (6-11 overall) will open Pacific League play by hosting Burbank on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School’s Levon Babayan scored a pair of goals to help the Falcons defeat visiting La Cañada, 12-6.

The Falcons picked up their second straight victory after sinking visiting La Cañada, 12-6, in a nonleague game on Tuesday, as Sebastian Rivera led with three goals. Jacob Choe, Levon Babayan, Eugene Lee and Alex Movsesyan each scored a pair of goals, while Daron Alexanians finished with one goal.
Crescenta Valley defeated visiting St. Francis High of La Cañada Flintridge, 11-7, in a nonleague game last Thursday, as Rivera and Alexanians each collected three goals. Choe scored a pair of goals, while Andrew Sarkissian, Aaron Choi and Movsesyan each had one goal.
CVHS (4-4 overall) will open Pacific League action by hosting Hoover on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m.

HOOVER

Hoover’s Alex Orujian scored a goal to help the Tornados defeat visiting Pico Rivera El Rancho, 15-8.

The Tornados collected a 15-8 nonleague victory over visiting Pico Rivera El Rancho on Wednesday, as Davo Harutnunyan led with six goals. Michael Arabian had a pair of goals, while Edward Sakellariou, Alex Orujian, Menua Iskandaryan, Tiko Mkrtumyan, Haik Aghadjanian and David Tarakhchyan each scored once.
Hoover (4-8 overall) will open Pacific League action by visiting Crescenta Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m.
