Nitros Win Match; Falcons Place 3rd in Tournament

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ volleyball team notched its first Pacific League victory by sweeping visiting Lynwood Firebaugh, 25-22, 25-20, 26-24, on Tuesday.
Senior outside hitter Asa Yoshioka collected 17 kills and 18 assists, junior setter Ergueen Herrera tallied 12 kills and 15 assists, and sophomore defensive specialist Nathan Francisco registered three aces.
The Nitros (6-7 overall record, 1-2 in league) are scheduled to host Burroughs High of Burbank in a league match on Wednesday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

The Falcons tallied a four-set, nonleague victory at Newhall Hart, 25-22, 25-21, 27-29, 25-23, on Wednesday.
The Falcons previously competed in the Chatsworth Tournament and placed third with a 7-1 record after losing their only match of the competition to host Chatsworth, 25-15, 25-20, last Saturday. Crescenta Valley added four wins that same day by defeating Los Angeles Venice, 21-25, 25-12, 15-6, Granada Hills Kennedy, 25-14, 25-10, South East of South Gate, 25-20, 25-13, and Los Angeles Marshall, 25-19, 21-25, 16-14.
The Falcons opened the tournament last Friday by collecting three consecutive sweeps. CVHS beat Morro Bay, 25-22, 25-15, Canoga Park, 25-9, 25-15, and Lake Balboa Birmingham, 25-18, 25-20. No individual statistics were reported to the Glendale News-Press.
The Falcons (16-4 overall, 2-0 in league) are scheduled to visit Pasadena in a Pacific League matchup on Wednesday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m.
