Michael Edward Diaz passed away into our Lord peacefully on July 26, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. He was 55 years old.
Born on March 29, 1967, in Glendale, California, Michael spent most of his life there before relocating to Salinas, California, in 2016. An avid musician with unrealized dreams of the big stage, Michael was a very talented multi-instrumentalist who spent his days playing and writing music.
Michael is survived by his cousins and their children: Jerry Suarez (Lily), Gabriel (Desiree), Arden and Alaric, Isaac, Gerardo, Samantha, Olivia, and Elijah of Salinas; Maria Figueroa (Sarah) of Salinas; Susie Lynn (Patrick), Cynthia Sweeten (Andi) of Salinas and Santa Cruz, California (respectively); Frankie Suarez of Stockton, California; Rosie Larrauri Castro, Jasmine, Justin, and Scarlett of Miami, Florida; David Larrauri – Anabella and Andrew of Miami; godparents Bernard Larrauri (Rosa) of Miami; and Yvette Artigas of Miami.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Miguel and Olga Diaz.
Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas, CA. from 1 to – 5 p.m. followed by a Rosary.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, California 93901, followed by internment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, California, 93907.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Research Children’s Hospital.
