MARY JANE BARLOW – dies at 99

Mary Jane Barlow, a physician and long-time Glendale resident, died October 20, 2023 at her vacation home in Spirit Lake, Idaho.  She was born Mary Jane Davey on December 30, 1923 in Jackson, Michigan.  She moved as a child with her parents to California.

After graduating from high school, she joined the Navy during World War II and was assigned to the Medical Corp where she served for two years.  She then attended Pasadena City College for two years and transferred to USC.  Dr. Barlow graduated from USC Medical School in 1952.  In 1954, after fulfilling her residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Dr. Barlow began her general practice in Glendale in partnership with her husband, Griffith C. Barlow.  She was on staff at Glendale Memorial Hospital and practiced for 37 years until her retirement in 1991.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy D. Barlow, her son, Steven G. Barlow, her stepson, Donald G.
