Nitros Battle in League; Falcons Compete in Tournament

The Glendale High School varsity boys’ water polo team lost a Pacific League game at Arcadia, 12-5, on Tuesday.
Senior Gregory Carrillo posted three goals, senior Arthur Ter-Matevosyan and sophomore August Kalaba each scored once, and junior David Zakaryan tallied four blocks.
Junior Andrew Klujian finished with two steals and one assist, while junior Artin Ghazaryan had one steal.
Glendale previously routed visiting Muir High of Pasadena in a league game, 14-8, as Carrillo amassed six goals. Ghazaryan tallied three goals, senior Andrew Azizian and Ter-Matevosyan each collected a pair of goals, and junior Edgar Abnussi produced one goal.
The Nitros (10-17 overall, 3-2 in league) will visit Hoover for a league game on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

CRESCENTA VALLEY

Crescenta Valley High School’s Eugene Lee scored five goals in four Claremont Tournament games last weekend.

The Falcons lost a Pacific League game on Tuesday against visiting powerhouse Burbank, 14-6. Levon Babayan scored with two goals, Sebastian Rivera, Andrew Sarkissian, Daron Alexanians and Alex Movsesyan each scored once, and Logan Freemon had six saves.
Crescenta Valley competed in the Claremont Tournament last weekend, finishing with a 1-3 record and ending with a narrow loss to Glendora, 10-9. Babayan collected three goals, Michael Petersen and Alexanians each posted two goals, and Eugene Lee and Movsesyan each had one goal.
CVHS lost to Santana High of Santee, 16-5, to open action on the second day of tournament play. Petersen registered two goals, while Babayan, Lee and Aaron Choi each finished with one goal.
The Falcons ended the first day of tournament play last Friday by edging Chaparral High of Temecula, 9-8, as Freemon tallied 14 saves. Petersen produced three goals, Babayan and Lee each scored a pair of goals, and Jacob Choe and Alexanians each recorded one goal.
Crescenta Valley narrowly lost its tournament opener against Canyon Crest Academy of San Diego, 9-7. Petersen had two goals, Choe, Lee, Babayan, Alexanians and Movsesyan each produced one goal, and Freemon finished with 10 saves.
The Falcons previously won a league game at Burroughs High in Burbank, 9-4, as Babayan posted three goals. Choi and Movsesyan each collected two goals, while Choe and Lee each had one goal.
CVHS (10-12 overall, 3-2 in league) will visit Arcadia for a league game on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 3:30 p.m.

HOOVER

The Tornados lost a Pacific League game last Thursday at Arcadia, 11-5. Individual statistics were not reported by the Hoover coaching staff. Hoover (5-11 overall, 1-3 in league) will host Glendale in a league game on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 3:30 p.m.
